Greetings from yer humble webmaster...We've been pretty quiet here at Hunt Press recently, resting through the Winter and oddly-weathered Spring, but with the Summer Solstice on the horizon, and Apollo once more ascendent, well, seems like a good time to ramp up the 21st Century capatalism, neh? If you check out our News page, you'll find a press release announcing the release of Caryatid, a new collection of stunning Black & White photography. We've also added a Coming Soon page to announce our newly-acquired 2007 and 2008 titles. You'll notice that the Authors page is also updated to reflect the new additions to the Hunt Press family. We've also updated our Submission Guidelines, so swing by and take a look. And so, as the weather continues to heat up, and the days peak in their glory and light, spend some time exploring what an independent publisher has to offer. You might just be reminded why you fell in love with reading in the first place. ~~M

Posted: June 17, 2007FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE LOS ANGELES, CA—June 17, 2007— Angela Hunt, author, award-winning artist and mom, has just released her first book of fine art black and white photography, “Caryatid”. Covering some of her early black and white work to the present day, most with a single repeating mode, Heidi Kobara, it covers a wide range of moods and styles from the fantastic surreal to the gothic dark. Wanting to retain creative control over the presentation and distribution of her work, Ms. Hunt chose to invest in the equalizing potential of the Web, to reach her niche of collectors, photography enthusiasts, and fine art fans. Ms. Hunt founded Hunt Press to help herself, other moms, and other independently-published authors and artists get noticed by the media and the public. Hunt Press currently has three titles available:
All titles are available for order and pre-order through www.huntpress.com and www.amazon.com. “Independent publishing that targets a niche market is the wave of the future, and the future is now,” said Ms. Hunt. “I prefer to control my own artistic destiny, rather than be a slave to someone else’s bottom line.”

With the submissions starting to roll in, we thought it would be a good idea to introduce you to our Editor-at-Large and general wordsmithing guru, Laureen Hudson. She has some words of insight and encouragement for those of you who are curious about what happens on the other side of the mailbox/inbox. Take it away Laureen...
When you submit your piece to Hunt Press, it will be read twice. If your piece makes it past Angela, then Laureen's job, her mission, nay, her Calling(tm)... is to help you to make it the finest it can possibly be. And that means, it will be Edited.Stop shaking... I can hear your knees from here. The key words there being "help" (not abuse) and "you" (not me). Part of the Higher Purpose(tm) of the editor's trade is teaching the art of fine tuning, so that the author, edited, come away with a toolbox that is richer, deeper, and carries a mean monkeywrench, for use on future efforts. That involves smoothing up all the nasty sharpish points of grammar, syntax, and spelling that you either never learned or never bothered remembering. Stuff that you don't see because you're (rightly) blinded by the drive of your creative vision. We then will work on points of consistency, continuity, and spension of disbelief. We suggest research points, and items for further consideration or inclusion. And we point out bad puns you may have overlooked. The editing process adds cycles to your submission time, but it simultaneously adds polish to the final product, and frankly, makes you look good. And when you look good... we sell books. So everyone's happy. ~~L!

Posted: August 15, 2006FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Angela Hunt Aims to Satisfy Independent Publishing Publicity Craving with Genre Small Press in partnership with Lulu (www.lulu.com) LOS ANGELES, CA—AUGUST 15, 2006— Angela Hunt, Momtrepeneur, author and artist, has just opened a new small genre press in Los Angeles, specializing in science fiction and fantasy that promotes a better world and a better tomorrow in conjunction with Lulu (www.lulu.com), the world’s fastest-growing provider of print-on-demand books. Hunt Press is a small press devoted to publishing stories that give hope to readers in a field dominated by dystopic science fiction and too much high fantasy that reads like retreads of Lord of the Rings. Noting the success of websites such as HappyNews.com and Cute Overload, Mrs. Hunt feels that the time is more than ripe for a genre infusion of work that says humanity has a chance in this or any world. Angela Hunt founded Hunt Press to help herself, other moms, and other independently published authors get noticed by the media and science fiction/fantasy fandom. She came to Lulu because she wanted to be in control of the publishing process and found Lulu’s print-on-demand tools to be fast, easy and, most importantly, free. Hunt Press already has two titles available, The Wishing Coin by Angela Hunt, a collection of short stories, poems and songs and The Messy Divorce of Faith & Belief by Matthew Hunt which includes his award-winning story, The Maid, which was one of five winners of the Stephen King “On Writing” short story contest. Both are available for purchase at www.lulu.com and www.amazon.com. “Independent, niche publishing, print-on-demand that targets a niche market is the wave of the future, and the future is now,” said Angela Hunt. “The Lulu process allows me to cut out the middle man (i.e. a separate publisher) and control my own destiny.” Link to Publication: www.lulu.com/huntpress
